As mortal beings, time truly is the only finite resource. Sim Isaac Construction Services values time, not only their time but the time of their clients, subcontractors, suppliers and other members of the project team.
Out of respect for this finite resource, Sim Isaac Construction Services uses a number of time management and project scheduling techniques to make sure the time allocated for a project and the phases of that project is used to its greatest potential.
One example of leveraging time and time management is the elimination of the traditional weekly project meeting with all subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors in attendance. Sim Isaac employs a technique of micro meetings with each subcontractor and material supplier to talk specifically about their work progress, issues, conflicts, etc. Micro-meetings focus attention on each subcontractor's work so their issues can be resolved and they can continue working, not stop and have a communal two hour meeting of which their portion is ten minutes. If there are conflicting issues in which one or more subcontractors need to be involved, then those who are needed are involved in a group meeting leaving those who are not needed to further progress on their work. Micro meetings, while more demanding on the construction manager or superintendent, are a much more effective and efficient use of subcontractor's and the project's (owner's) time and ultimately money.
Meetings take time – time is a finite commodity – use time wisely.
